Couchsurfers in Kathmandu

Vagabond Tim
For the past few weeks I have been host to some wandering hobos and musicians.

It’s nice to be able to show people around the city, it can be fairly intimidating and confusing when one first arrives.

Tom and Toots, pictured on the right, decided that Kathmandu was a great place to almost die of the plague. It is not really a wise choice. In winter the house is about 10 degrees all day long and colder at night. That combined with illness related laziness makes one seriously consider just ending it all.

When they weren’t dying we sat around listening to ukulele jam sessions and heated arguments about whether or not one could actually own too many harmonicas. I am going to side with NO on this one, they are after all in different keys…

There was also a French couple named Alvarice and Layla (Spelled as they sound) who spent a couple days here before heading off to wander up a mountain or something, I am fairly sure I warned them about leopards… Fairly sure.

One one occasion we were walking around the stupa and I was absently taking photographs. In reviewing them it appears that a particularly devout cow was walking circles with the humans.

And lastly I have been killing time training the local birds to come to my balcony when I come out and eat food I give them, some will eat from my hand but most of them can’t get over the fact that I am a giant land-bound mammal. Damn speciest birds.

Oh my god. We both look sickly-thin in that first picture. That was only the first week! I’m so glad that was over. I will come back to Nepal and stay with a nice Nepalese family that has a water filtration system.

In your defense you were both in the process of dying from wormy intestinal colonization.
