Shivatri 2015
We decided to start cooking and drinking around 11am. This was planned days in advance and we repeatedly reminded everyone that this was a firm time. 11am. So around 1PM everyone started showing up.
It totally makes sense if you understand Nepali Time. In short if it is on the correct day it is close enough.
Since there were over a dozen of us gambling rupees on poker the pot grew quite sizable. At one point it was worth almost 3$USD… The rupee is worth nothing is sort of my point. Since more people kept showing up we had to create a side game of Uno.
Of course we gambled on that as well, since Uno is primarily luck based no one ever seemed to win or lose a significant amount, not that any combination of 20 rupee notes is really significant.
Shortly after we chased the hallucinogenic beverage with a few beer the party became more about finding a comfortable spot to lie down and listen to music and less about gambling. I have no idea who left when or where they ended up. All I know is that I passed out around 7:30 and slept until noon the following day.
